The Democratic Party left me this year — here’s what I am going to do now
My vote has been earned by a Republican, and that is our current President, Donald J. Trump.
Fox News viewers have long known me as an ardent Democrat, ready to fight for the ‘other’ side. However, in the past eight months, this has changed. It has changed so drastically that I’m jokingly referred to as “Leo 2.0.” It is a change so complete that I am campaigning and preparing to vote Republican in this election — for the first time ever.
I’d like to explain why I’ve left the Democratic party and will proudly cast my vote for President Donald Trump. First let me say, I did not leave the Democrats, they left me. The party of the Civil Rights movement, the party of JFK and “Ask not what your country can do for you” has abandoned all its principles and handed the reins over to extremists.
Let’s start at the top with the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, Joe Biden. On May 22, in an interview with Charlamagne tha God, Biden told him, “I tell you if you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t Black.” In case you don’t know, I AM Black, and I did not know that the color of my skin also came with a mandate that I vote for the old White guy who’s been in politics for 47 years (without a discernible record of accomplishments on behalf of Black people.)
I didn’t know that Black Americans were expected to form a monolithic voting bloc, one in which we bow down to the almighty Democrats, and do whatever they say. Again, I ask, what has Biden done for Black America? It’s not just Biden — or his dubious choice for vice president — that has me casting a Republican ballot.
What has happened to the Democratic party? I don’t even recognize it anymore — not since they allowed all policy decisions to be made by extremists within the Black Lives Matter and Antifa movements. Thanks, but I’ll take a hard pass on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. dressing up in a kente cloth and taking a knee.
I need, WE need, for Democrats to support law and order. We need Democrats to acknowledge that ALL Black lives matter … that it means more than just the George Floyds of the world. It means the Black-on-Black crime that’s killing children in Chicago, and the looting and riots that killed retired St. Louis police captain David Dorn, a Black man.
Instead of seeing the very real and very necessary reason for police in poor neighborhoods, Democrats are calling to “Defund the Police.” If you do this, who will answer the call to fight the drug dealers and the gang members in the neighborhood? I can assure you, it won’t be a social worker and it won’t be Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.
Finally, the Democratic party has left me by refusing to acknowledge that President Trump is right about the corrosion of America’s largest cities. Our cities are literally going up in flames, all while the elected officials blithely watch. And guess who’s running them?
Democrats. In New York, it’s Bill DeBlasio, who has even managed to appall traditional Democrats. Chicago has Lori Lightfoot. Seattle has its very own summer-of-love Mayor Jenny Durkan. And there’s Los Angeles, where Eric Garcetti has effectively managed the rapid decline and decay of my beloved home city. These cities regularly make the news for riots, looting, murders and rampant homelessness. The quality of life in these cities has declined — all on the watch of the Democrats.
As a Civil Rights attorney, it would seem out of character for me to vote for Donald Trump. But I am a fair-minded individual and have witnessed our president pass a comprehensive police reform executive order, at the same time supporting law enforcement.
I know from my work that inner-city residents need and depend upon a police presence to fight crime and violence. Unfortunately, the Democratic Party has turned its back on me and all Americans by giving in to chaos and dismissing the needs of the poor and middle classes.
My vote depends upon one thing: who will fight for every American in this country? It’s the candidate who will fight for law and order, and fight for equality of educational opportunities. My vote has been earned by a Republican, and that is our current President, Donald J. Trump.

Absolutely correct! You should know I’m White we’ll sort of got some Native American. But I had always voted Democrat and my family. We want be this year 10 of us will be voting for Trump. We don’t even recognize the party. They are against everything I believe in! They have left middle class America behind!!!!!!

Leo this is awesome. I have listened to you on and off over the years on 790 kabc. I remember when u did a sunday show at 10 pm on that station and you were never thrilled with the republican party but trump has rebranded the party to a working class party. Leo! I have enjoyed watching your evolution. I’m not going to lie – my husband and I used to throw things at the Tv When Leo 1.0 was on! You were the worst. Now I love Leo 2.0! We run in to watch and turn it up loud when you’re on! You are nailing it from every angle! Trump is fighting for everyone in America. He believes in the dream for everyone. I truly believe that dems are so angry at Americans for voting Trump in that they seek to punish us by looking the other way. You turned your backs on your own supporters in favor of so called progressives also. The last 4yrs you’ve done nothing but try to overturn the peoples choice and i think it will blow up in their faces soon. The fact is the only ones who receive social security benefits have paid an average of 20 years of FICA taxes and are working jobs most Americans won’t do. If you don’t want to pay the benefits they paid into, then at least refund the funds these workers and their employers contributed in their name to the Social Security Trust Fund. I’m glad your leaving the party of hard working Americans. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

Thank you so much, Leo ! How anyone can vote Democrat, has not read the 110 page Biden-Sanders Manifesto. The Manifesto states that Biden will nullify and remove the First and Second Amendments to the Constitution of the United States. Now that in itself is insanity personified, and is only a fragment of what pain Biden plans to wreak on America, in his Manifesto.

I have watched your Transformation with Joy while viewing Fox from Australia. It has been so heartening to watch someone else realise that those who we thought could be trusted have been using us and our vote for far too many years. That it is not us that have left the Party but they who have left us in their dust as they veer further extreme left as they work to enrich themselves & their bank balances at the expense of and to the detriment of everyday people. They have sold out America to the highest bidders and for the Democrats that is China. The dishonesty and Corruption of too many of them and their Lettered Agency Bureaucrats is breathtaking and they should be punished severely.
Anyhoo, it has been wonderful to witness your Transformation and I now see a lightness within you that was not there before. We are all human beings Sir. Skin color does not and never has made the person who they are. Actions do! Your article, your vote for Pres. Trump, all based on truth and love of country, is the most important actions you (and others) can take.
I would also like to point out that I believe the Democrat Socialists are acting the way they are because they are afraid of Pres. Trump getting a second term. Because if he does, like all second term presidents, they have no more reelections to worry about. Which means he can take off the gloves, and seriously turn up the heat in his efforts to clean up the government. Think about it… a hurricane is coming for the Democrat Socialists and the corrupt people in government, and its name is Pres. Trump!

My family are lifelong Democrats. I’ve been a Republican for 48 years and I had and still have no problem voting Democrat if the Republican was a scum. I’m praying your views are given a fair evaluation by other Democrats who aren’t sure if it’s ok to turn from the party that is no longer true to it’s origins. May your voice of reason prevail against the loud screaming of the extremists.
