‘THANK YOU FOR PRAYING FOR ME’: Herschel Walker shuts down Majority Whip James Clyburn’s attempt to shun black men for voting Trump

Former NFL superstar Herschel Walker, a proud and vocal supporter of President Trump, took to Twitter Sunday to express a counter to the widespread Democratic narrative on race. 

In a video, Walker pushed back against House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.), who shamed black men that voted for Trump, according to BizPacReview. 

“I’m going to pray for you as well because you took the president a little bit out of context, which is okay because the Democrats have been doing that for a long time just to get a vote and I think that’s what you’re doing right now,” he said. 

In the video, Walker told the 80-year-old Democrat that he was taught to always respect his elders and thanked Clyburn for praying for him, but reminded him that when it comes to “systemic racism,” Clyburn is the one that has been in office for 27 years – implying that things could have been done. 

“Thank you for praying for me,” Walker said. “That’s the first time I really have heard a Democrat – anyone from the Democratic party – talk about praying for anybody or Jesus or God, or anything like that.”

The video came in response to Clyburn’s Fox News appearance, during which he suggested that Trump is a racist because he referred to former aide Omarosa Manigault Newman as a “dog” after she turned on him, BizPacReview reports. 

“I’m the father of three black women, I am the son of a black woman,” Clyburn said. “If any black man can go in front of a polling place and cast a vote for a man who referred to a black woman as a dog on national television, I’m going to have to pray for them. I will have to pray for them.” 

The context? 

President Trump used the term in a tweet responding to Omarosa being fired by then-White House Chief of Staff Jim Kelly. 

“When you give a crazed, crying lowlife a break, and give her a job at the White House, I guess it just didn’t work out. Good work by General Kelly for quickly firing that dog.”

Clyburn also told hosts that the only way Joe Biden could lose on Tuesday would be “for voter suppression to be successful.” 

Walker has been a longtime supporter of President Trump, even touting a “deep, personal friendship” with him at the Republican National Convention in August.

In a final push for the president, Walker blasted Joe Biden for threatening a second lockdown via a Twitter video captioned “Faith over Fear … we don’t run away and hide, we face our problems head on together!”

“We lock down, we leave our first responders, we leave our military out there to fend for us while we’re hiding away scared away of the big bad boogeyman, you know this virus they keep talking about,” he said.

“We can’t leave our people out there alone…Let’s not leave them out there, let’s get out there and fight and we don’t want no lockdown.”
