Teachers Union President: DeSantis Campaign Merchandise Will Cause ‘Millions’ Of Deaths
American Federation of Teachers (AFT) President Randi Weingarten claimed on Wednesday that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’s merchandise was going to result in the deaths of “millions of Floridians.”
DeSantis’s campaign released merchandise with the phrase “Don’t Fauci My Florida,” a reference to Dr. Anthony Fauci’s pattern of advocating for overly restrictive COVID-19 policies.
“Disgusting. Millions of Floridians are going to die for Ron DeSantis’ ignorance and he’s choosing to profit from it,” Weingarten claimed. “He doesn’t care about Floridians; he cares about furthering his own cruel agenda.”
With the population of Florida being around 20 million people, there would only be about 50,000 deaths if all Floridians were infected with COVID-19, according to the infection fatality rate estimated in a 2021 study from Stanford University. The alarmism from Weingarten that “millions” would die prompted backlash, as there is no evidence wearing a t-shirt, would cause anyone to die.
“Florida’s COVID death rate is lower than the national average, and unlike the Governor of New York, we don’t fudge the numbers. Meanwhile, Randi Weingarten ruined the education of millions of kids by keeping them out of school for more than a year based on a conspiracy theory,” one user wrote on Twitter.

Thank God my mother is no longer here. She was a retired teacher. I was a teacher too not children but adults. This is just so sad. Let people teach who want to teach. Health care we’re front line with the Chinese virus. Yes I said it. Chinese Virus. The only reason the teachers union is able to get away with their crap because they give money to the Democratic Party. So they get a pass. Congress doesn’t send their kids to public school They do not care about the Americans. I could go on and on. I am sure you have heard it all.

This woman is an educator? How she so eloquently exposes her ignorance. So the phrase taken in full context “Millions of Floridians will die” equate to at least 2 million + deaths (millions=plural). In a state of 20 million that is a minimum of 10% of the population succumbing to the CCP virus. Where does this idiot get her scientific data? Bizarro Fauci University?
