A 23-year-old man who is believed to be the suspect of a ‘sniper-type’ shooting in D.C. on Friday was found dead that evening. Washington, D.C. police made the announcement in a press conference.

Raymond Spencer set up a tripod and configured a rifle on top of it in a “sniper-type setup” in his apartment according to police. Spencer opened fire from the window of his apartment Friday afternoon, shooting and injuring four people.

Although police did not indicate a specific motive for the incident, they said “this was very much a sniper-type setup…obviously his intent was to kill and hurt members of our community.” A photo of inside Spencer’s apartment released by police showed he had a poster of Yakub, “a figure associated with the Nation of Islam” reports National review.

Thankfully, all of the victims, including a twelve-year-old girl and a former member of the D.C. police are expected to recover from their injuries. The shooting occurred in the Van Ness neighborhood, and prompted the lockdowns of schools, the University of D.C., and foreign embassies including China, Israel, and Pakistan, which are located near the shooting site.

Investigators are all looking into social media posts allegedly made by the suspect during the time of the shooting, three law enforcement officials told the Washington Post.
