San Francisco school to change Abraham Lincoln name because he didn’t show ‘black lives ever mattered’

“I say in relation to the principle that all men are created equal, let it be nearly reached as we can” – Abraham Lincoln

“I say in relation to the principle that all men are created equal, let it be nearly reached as we can.” – Abraham Lincoln.

Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president of the United States, is considered by many to be one of the greatest presidents in the history of our great nation.

Perhaps his greatest legacy is saving the union and abolishing slavery. For Lincoln, the two were linked together; “The Union must be preserved in the purity of its principles as well as the integrity of its territorial parts”

But one school in San Francisco disagrees and plans to change their name.

Abraham Lincoln High School is set to change their name because they think the former president is “problematic” and didn’t do enough to prove that “black lives ever mattered” to him.

The San Francisco United School District’s School Names Advisory Committee issued a proposal this week that called for the renaming of dozens of schools because their namesakes weren’t deferential enough to black people, BizPacReview reports.

Members of the committee believe all of the namesakes, including Lincoln, “lived a life so stained with racism, oppression or human rights violations, they do not deserve to have their name on a school building.”

“Uprooting the problematic names and symbols that currently clutter buildings, streets, throughout the city is a worthy endeavor,” committee chairman Jeremiah Jeffries told the San Francisco Chronicle.

“Only good can come from the public being reflective and intentional about the power of our words, names and rhetoric within our public institutions,” he added.

The Chronicle also noted that Jeffries “said the narrative of Lincoln’s legacy is false” and that “the Civil War was not fought over slavery or the liberation of black people.”

“Lincoln, like the presidents before him and most after, did not show through policy or rhetoric that black lives ever mattered to them outside of human capital and as casualties of wealth building,” he said.

Also included in the proposal are George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and even Paul Revere.

The proposal falls directly in line with the left’s attempts to essentially eliminate and rewrite American history – based on today’s standards – by renaming football teams, buildings and even removing – or toppling – statues.

Is it because he was a white man? He started the civil rights movement.

So stupid. They should be focused on violence in the schools instead of nitpicking on a name of a school.

I wonder how the tax payer feel, because now they are spending money changing ridiculous names instead of using it to educate our younger generation. You need to embrace our history and understand where our country has been in order not to make the same mistakes.

This shows how uneducated, no, stupid, these people are for voting for this nonsense! What exactly do these people expect from this man, Abraham Lincoln, after he abolished slavery? I guess changing our country’s whole outlook on purchasing a man or woman of color wasn’t enough?! What ignorance! He loved people of color and respected them. The problem these days is no one has respect for themselves, much less our leaders and servicemen.

That has got to be the biggest crock of crap I’ve ever heard. How can anyone say the man that freed slaves didn’t do enough. As a black man and moreover a man I find this repulsive. Time for all these sensitive people to grow up.

Please stop this ridiculousness! It is our history! I don’t give a crap if you are offended, how the heck do you think America is the country that it is! You or me probably wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for our history GOOD OR BAD. President Lincoln did more for this country than You or I ever will.
I don’t understand what the schools are teaching our kids these days ? They sure don’t teach Patronage, Respect or lessons from what our forefathers fought and died for! Sickening, the ignorance, dis-respect and BS coming out of the mentality of today’s people….. Done

So if they are now saying that the civil war was not about slavery, does that mean the confederate flag is now accepted as something other than a banner of racism???

I wonder when this dude is going o work on changing the name of the Democratic Party which fostered the Civil War, Jim Crowe, KKK , filibustered Civil Rights Act. I guess never because that would take real balls. After all they are the party of cancellation.

Stupid, small people! You can’t reach back in history over 200 years and expect those alive at that time to hold the same ridiculous views you do today. Stupid, small people, I repeat!
