Just two days after National Voter Registration Day, Florida is experiencing a surge in Republican voter registration, narrowing a historic Democrat advantage in the nation’s biggest swing state.

In August, Republicans added a GOP record of about 58,000 new voters, totaling at 41 percent more than new Democrats in Florida, according to the New York Post.

“Florida looking good!” President Trump tweeted Thursday morning, after recent concern that the incumbent was dragging behind Democratic opponent Joe Biden.

Recent polls suggest that Trump drastically increased his support among Florida Latinos after denouncing Latin American socialism. But, he’s at risk of a dramatic loss in support among senior citizens amid the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the New York Post.

But, have no fear, the Trump campaign has come up with a strategy that is working to their advantage.

While Joe Biden supporters avoided in-person, grass-roots campaigning, Republicans made door-knocking a major part of Trump’s campaign, which many believe contributed heavily to the success on Voter Registration Day.

Trump’s Florida campaign director, Susie Wiles, told Politico, “we’ve turned our focus to voter registration in a more meaningful way than before. Everyone said you can’t do it – get the gap between Republicans and Democrats to such a small number. Well, you can do it.”

With the clear-cut success of door-knocking in Florida, the Trump campaign is utilizing similar strategies in other swing states, hoping to appeal to voters and move steps ahead of Biden; in times like these, in-person contact can go a long way.

Trump’s campaign and the Republican National Committee said this month alone, they made contact with 100 million voters through door knocking and phone banking.

If this success continues while Biden continues calling an early-morning “lid,” Trump will rake in the votes he needs to secure four more years in Washington.
