In response to China’s threats to the United States over House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) visit to Taiwan, Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) said the “Chinese Communist Party can go straight to hell.”

“The Chinese Communist Party can go straight to hell,” Crenshaw wrote on Twitter. “You don’t tell us when our elected representatives can visit other countries, as they always have, since our nation’s inception. No amount of toddler-esque saber rattling will change that.”

After Pelosi arrived in the country of Taiwan on Tuesday, the Chinese Communist Party released a statement saying Pelosi’s visit is “a deliberate provocation and a playing with fire.”

“It has a severe impact on the political foundation of China-U.S. relations, and seriously infringes on China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. It gravely undermines peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait, and sends a seriously wrong signal to the separatist forces for ‘Taiwan independence’. The move is extremely egregious in nature and will have extremely serious consequences. China will not sit idly by,” the statement added. “The U.S. government must be held accountable.”

China began military exercises around Taiwan within minutes of Pelosi’s arrival in order to “rehearse” ways China could take the country “by force” in the future.

According to CNN, “Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense said 27 Chinese warplanes made incursions into Taiwan’s air defense identification zone, and 22 planes crossed the median line dividing the Taiwan Strait on Wednesday — an unprecedented number since Taiwan began publicly releasing information about China’s air incursions about two years ago.”

“In the event of a future military conflict, it is likely that the operational plans currently being rehearsed will be directly translated into combat operations,” Chinese military official Song Zhongping told China’s government-run Global Times.

“It means that our battle plan has been made clear to the U.S. and the Taiwan authorities, and we are confident enough to inform them of the consequences of further provocation in this way,” Song added.

The Global Times claimed that the military exercises would “enter area within 12 nautical miles of the island and that the so-called median line will cease to exist.” They added that the Chinese warships would be “surrounding” and “completely blockading the island demonstrating the Chinese mainland’s absolute control over the Taiwan question.”
