President Trump’s black voter approval skyrockets to 46%

With just 8 days until the 2020 election, President Trump’s approval rating among likely black voters skyrocketed between Monday and Friday of last week. 

According to a Rasmussen Reports daily presidential tracking poll released Friday, the president’s approval went from 25 percent on Monday to 46 percent on Friday, a 21 point surge following the second and final presidential debate last Thursday.

During the debate’s “Race in America” segment, President Trump blasted Democratic nominee Joe Biden for failing to get anything major done for the black community during his 47-year political career, and for his involvement in the 1994 Crime Bill, which impacted black Americans at disproportionate rates. 

“Now, you have done nothing other than the Crime Bill, which put tens of thousands of black men, mostly, in jail.”  

“Nobody has done more for the Black community than Donald Trump,” the president said. “Criminal justice reform, prison reform, opportunity zones.”

While the left continues to smear the president as a racist, more and more black Americans are shifting away from the Democratic party in support of President Trump’s policies and what he has done for the black community. 

In a radio ad airing on Black radio stations across the country, listeners hear from former NFL star Herschel Walker, an undeniable supporter of President Trump. “I’ve known Donald Trump for 37 years,” he says. “He keeps right on fighting to improve the lives of Black Americans. He works night and day. He never stops. He leaves nothing on the field.”

Leo Terrell, a lifelong Democrat, has switched sides because of all that Trump has done for black Americans. 

“Let me tell the Democrats…what Donald J. Trump has done for everyone, especially people of color,” he said. “The lowest unemployment rate ever — Donald J. Trump. Funding historic black colleges. Donald J. Trump [signed] the FIRST Step Act. Why is that important? Because Joe Biden and Kamala Harris put people of color in jail. Donald Trump is giving people a second opportunity.” 

Terrell blasted the Democratic party, saying that Democrats have “given in to the left-wing, even violent extremists, and abandoned [their] civil rights and equality-for-all roots.” 

“They are simply involved in trying to obtain power. I reject that,” he said. “I have been a civil rights attorney for 30 years. What makes this country great is that this country gives you an opportunity, equality and an opportunity to be who you want to be. I put the country first. I want to apologize because it took me a little bit too long to get to the right side.”

Terrell has also spoken out against the idea that all black Americans should vote Democrat. 

“Joe Biden made the assumption that if you’re Black you have to vote Democrat. I find that insulting to every African American because we don’t vote as one group,” he said.

Building on his record – including the lowest black unemployment rate, funding for historically black colleges and universities, and the FIRST Step Act – President Trump released his Platinum Plan for Black America, meant to uplift black communities across the country through a $500 billion investment. 

This 21 point jump comes at a critical time in the race, as both candidates scramble to appeal to undecided voters, especially those in the black community.
