Outrage Over CA Councilman’s Motion to Create Homeless Campsites at L.A. Beaches, Parks
Beautiful California beaches are where people can go enjoy the sun on their skin, the sand between their toes, and the homeless campsites. A Los Angeles Times investigation revealed Wednesday that “among other things, fires related to homeless encampments have nearly tripled” reports Deadline.
Los Angeles Councilman Mike Bonin has gone to various efforts to explore housing homeless people in temporary cabins and camping sites in parks and beach parking lots. Thanks to Bonin, as the LA Times reports, in the first four months of this year there were as many as 24 fires per day. Calls to the Los Angeles Fire Department for the homeless encampment fires accounted for roughly 54% of all fires responded to by LAFD.
Bonin attempted to defend himself to his residents, which include much of the city’s affluent West Side including Pacific Palisades, Brentwood, Venice, Mar Vista and Westchester. On Wednesday he stated in an email to his constituents: “these are not encampments, They are an emergency response – an alternative – to encampments, and they are temporary solutions meant to get people off the streets and into homes.”
Bonin also published a response on his website titled “The Truth.” Bonin says his motion, which was introduced March 31, is an attempt to move homeless individuals off of parks and beaches, but rather, into designated camping and cabin areas in certain portions of the county-owned parks and parking lots.
Deadline reports Bonin’s motion specifically calls for the City Administrative Officer to evaluate the feasibility of and identify funding for:
— temporary single-occupancy tiny homes or a safe camping site at Will Rogers State Beach’s county-owned parking lot at 17000 CA-1 in Pacific Palisades
— temporary single-occupancy tiny homes, a safe camping or safe parking site at Dockweiler Beach’s county owned parking lot number three, at 11999 Vista Del Mar in Playa Del Rey
— a temporary RV safe parking site in the county-owned RV park at Dockweiler Beach, at 12001 Vista Del Mary in Playa Del Rey
— temporary single-occupancy tiny homes or a safe camping site at Fisherman’s Village’s county-owned parking lot, at 13755 Fiji Way in Marina del Rey
If passed, the motion would also instruct the Department of Recreation and Parks to evaluate the feasibility of identifying portions of Mar Vista Park and Westchester Park for safe camping programs, while having the rest of the parks remain open for public use and programs. Los Angeles World Airports would also be instructed to work with the City Administrative Officer to identify and fund an airport-owned site for safe camping, safe parking or tiny homes.

I spent a good amount of time at these same beaches every summer, and think the idea of homeless camps in the parking lots, to be offensive.
There has got to be a better solution than penalizing the average citizen with solutions for the homeless.

Hire illegal aliens to tear homeless camps down every day until the bums relocate. Stop bringing them food. Stop putting them in hotels. Provide addiction counseling by all those punks who majored in psychology and social work.

SNAP! It seems Californians are all about charity and kindness when it’s in someone else’s back yard or until it looks like it might require them to alter their lifestyle. This is what happens when the politicians put in place those warm and fuzzy socialist policies; when real estate rates and taxes are higher than the market can bear. This is what happens when socialism comes to town. You end up with the ultra rich and the ultra poor and middle class is wiped out. VOTERS created this. Only voters can fix it. McRant, I’d bet money a significant amount of those homeless people ARE illegals.
