Jean-Pierre Defends Claiming Trump Stole 2016 Election: ‘That Comparison Is Ridiculous’
On Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was questioned about her previous tweets saying that former President Trump stole the 2016 presidential election and that Georgia Governor Brian Kemp stole the 2018 gubernatorial election in Georgia.
“You tweeted Trump stole an election, you tweeted Brian Kemp stole an election. If denying election results is extreme now, why wasn’t it then?” a reporter asked.
“Let’s be really clear, that comparison that you made is just ridiculous,” Jean-Pierre claimed.
Jean-Pierre then said that her tweets were in regard to “what was happening with voting rights and what was in danger of voting rights” at the time. She went on to claim that she has “been clear” in saying that Trump won the 2016 election and that Kemp won the 2018 gubernatorial election.
