Election 2020
GOP lawmakers call on Dems to hold hearings on 2020 election ‘misconduct’
“Our committees must conduct oversight hearings to ensure that Americans have faith in the integrity of our election.”
As the Trump campaign continues to fight legal challenges in several battleground states, republicans in the House of Representatives are demanding an immediate congressional investigation into the 2020 election.
Top republicans on the House Judiciary and Oversight Committees urged democrat leaders to hold hearings “to examine the integrity of the 2020 election amid troubling reports of irregularities and improprieties.”
House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Jim Jordan of Ohio and House Oversight Committee Ranking Member James Comer of Kentucky fired off a letter Wednesday to Committee Chairs Jerrold Nadler and Carolyn Maloney of New York, urging them to take action.
“Given your role as leaders of a political party that spent four years baselessly calling into question the legitimacy of the 2016 election with debunked allegations of Russian collusion, you owe it to all Americans to fully examine allegations of actual election errors and misconduct,” they wrote.
They also reminded democrats about a report, released in September, which detailed the “dangerous initiatives” being implemented through last-minute changes to state election laws and procedures.
“We warned that these dangerous initiatives would increase the risk of election-related crimes and errors, undermine the integrity of the electoral process, and cause lingering uncertainty about the results of the election for several days or weeks after Election Day,” they stated.
“Democrats ignored this report, but many of our predications have unfortunately come true,” they continued.
The report also urged that “because Democrats refused to clean up outdated and inaccurate voter registration rolls, a last-minute move to widespread mail-in voting in some states would have unintended consequences.”
“These serious concerns give rise to the urgent need for congressional oversight of the integrity of the 2020 election,” they wrote. “Our committees must conduct oversight hearings to ensure that Americans have faith in the integrity of our election,” they added.

“The democrats have been four years investigating the fake Russia hoax, why can’t we spend four weeks trying to get to the bottom of this election?” Jordan asked in an interview with Newsmax. “Let’s let the process work. Let’s get to the bottom of it…maybe we should just do the audit, let the court cases work and figure out exactly what happened.”
Though the media elected Joe Biden, the results in some states are still in limbo as the Trump campaign continues to revise lawsuits.
