Former Democrat Senator Kyrsten Sinema: Biden Had Two Years To Prepare For End Of Title 42 And Didn’t

During a recent interview, Sen. Kysten Sinema (I-AZ), who left the Democratic party in December, slammed President Biden for failing to prepare for the end of Title 42, a Trump-era border security policy, amid a worsening illegal immigration crisis at the U.S. southern border.

Sinema made her comments during an interview with CBS “Face the Nation” host Margaret Brennan at the McCain Institute’s Sedona Forum.

“The Biden administration had two years to prepare for this and did not do so. And our state is going to bear the brunt and migrants will be in crisis as soon as next week,” she said. “Unfortunately, the parties are thinking about this from a political perspective, rather than a human perspective.”

“Both parties are talking without listening to each other,” Sinema said. “We’re in a situation where one party is saying they will not negotiate at all with the other party. I think that’s a very dangerous place to be because one, it’s not realistic. And two, that is just not going to happen.”

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has previously warned that the end of Title 42 will result in as many as 18,000 migrants attempting to illegally cross the southern border each day, according to an internal document obtained by ABC News.

“The DHS Office of Immigration Statistics (OIS) produced projections for post-Title 42 Southwest Border encounters describing low, medium, high, or very high encounter scenarios,” the document says. “These scenarios underpin planning assumptions that generate requirements which in turn drive operational execution. Based on these projections the SBCC is currently planning for 6,000, 12,000 (high) and 18,000 (very high) encounters per day.”
