Eviction Moratorium Expires Saturday, Pelosi Races to Extend the Ban
The nationwide eviction moratorium is set to expire Saturday, causing Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi to say it is a “moral imperative” for her colleagues to act, and urging the Biden administration to get involved.
On Thursday the Biden administration said its hands are tied due to the Supreme Court’s signaling the moratorium would only be extended until the end of the month. Deflecting responsibility, the White House said it would have liked to extend the federal eviction moratorium in light of the new delta variant, but Biden did nothing and called on Congress to act.
Last month the Supreme Court, in a 5-4 opinion, allowed the eviction ban to continue only until the end of July. Justice Brett Kavanaugh, who voted in the majority, made clear he would block any additional extensions unless there was “clear and specific congressional authorization.”
Pelosi then turned to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention saying Friday, “we would like the CDC to expand the moratorium; that’s where it can be done.” The House is preparing to leave Friday for a scheduled recess.
While Democrats are asking for more time, which means more money, “lawmakers said state governments have been slow to distribute the money. On Friday they said only some $3 billion has been spent.” The Associated Press reports:
By the end of March, 6.4 million American households were behind on their rent, according to the Department of Housing and Urban Development. As of July 5, roughly 3.6 million people in the U.S. said they faced eviction in the next two months, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s Household Pulse Survey.
Some places are likely to see spikes in people being evicted starting Monday, while other jurisdictions will see an increase in court filings that will lead to evictions over several months.

Parasite Pelosi isn’t “racing” to do anything since this doesn’t benefit her, given her uncaring attitude towards ALL Americans (think the dowdy stumpy clinton woman). Residents being evicted and homes foreclosed translates to having more Americans powerless and helpless, more victims for Parasite and her sagging accomplices to target with cruel and abusive schemes. She’ll never let such an opportunity pass.

No. They are in this country illegally and many are criminals, rapists, child molesters, drug dealers and we should not be rewarding them when millions of of our own citizens to make ends meet. Why’d should we reward people for “BREAKING THE LAW.

Pelosi & Racketeers Inc have zero sentiment or feeling for those who couldn’t pay their rent or face home foreclosures due to the lockdowns and business shut-downs. Uglier still, are those supposed-conservatives who debase renters as “lazy” because their are many who regard renters as “low class” but have only kind words to issue or post for home owners. It is the fault of GOVERNMENT & THEIR ACCOMPLICES who have created this chaos AGAINST ALL AMERICANS and not the fault of renters nor home owners. Pretentious conservatives should put their hates aside to address these matters which effect all of us and not just some.
