‘DUMP TRUMP’: South Carolina Elections Chairman resigns after he and his wife accused of removing and defacing Trump signs
With the election just 19 days away, a chairman of a South Carolina board of elections was caught playing dirty – and is paying the price in a resignation.
Chairman of the Georgetown County Board of Voter Registration and Elections in South Carolina resigned Wednesday after he and his wife were accused of removing and vandalizing Donald Trump yard signs, according to numerous sources.
A resident of Pawleys Island filed a report with the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday, claiming that his Trump/Pence campaign yard signs were disappearing.
After looking at footage from a deer camera placed in his yard on October 4, the resident discovered something unimaginable. The video shows someone taking one sign and damaging another by writing “dump” over the president’s name, according to the Coastal Observer.
Caught red-handed.
Or, better yet, blue handed.
An incident report released later identified the offender as Dean Smith, who was seen on camera driving away with his wife, according to WPDE, via the Daily Caller.
Smith, who has served on the elections board for 15 years, resigned Wednesday, two days after Republican Party officials filed a complaint with the Sheriff’s office. Rita Smith, Smith’s wife and HOA president came clean about defacing the sign but claims the circumstances were different than those described in the report.
According to the Observer, she allegedly received a complaint from a property owner in September about a resident violating the HOA rules by hanging a Trump flag on his garage.
Dean released a statement in response to the complaint:
“This is actually an HOA issue. We have regulations against the signs. The people that reported this, put a sign on someone else’s property without their knowledge and they insulted and attacked my wife who is the HOA president and asked them to get rid of the signs. The camera that took our picture was also put on someone else’s property.”
Regardless of the reasoning, vandalism is never the answer – especially for an election official.
“Our emotions got the better of us,” Rita said.
“It was because we were angry with the other resident,” Dean said.

It’s mind boggling that these people think they can get away with anything…if they come up with a bizarre excuse!

The outrageous juvenile behavior of those on the left just because they can’t handle the fact that Trump beat Hillary is just unbelievable! The sham Russian hoax, ridiculous impeachment and deplorable behavior of Democrat Senators in the Kavanaugh confirmation were baffling! Not to mention the petty behavior as the Democrats as to Attorney General Barr testimony a couple months ago and Pelosi’s antics at the SOTU! I’d say their emotions”getting the best of them” is a common issue for the left.

That is clearly one of the stupidest excuses I have ever heard. It’s about time our side wins one!

Excuses are the crutches of the weak and of children. People like this need to grow up and quit blaming others for their actions!

Well I guess the votes are in from the electoral college. It sounds like they are in agreement that Joe Biden won. I think President Trump still has something to say about that though. I think he’s still pursuing his lawsuits. What do you think about all that?
