‘DISGUSTING’: Joy Reid slammed for referring to Justice Thomas as ‘Uncle Clarence’

MSNBC’s Joy Reid referred to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas as “Uncle Clarence” on live television Wednesday, sparking outrage on social media.

And yes, it appears to be an “Uncle Tom” reference. 

Reid made the comment while discussing President Trump’s threat to take close races in critical battleground states all the way to the Supreme Court. 

“If somehow they manage to stumble into the Supreme Court, do any of you guys expect Uncle Clarence and Amy Coney Barrett and those guys to actually follow the letter of the law?” Red asked. 

“No. It’s a completely politicized Supreme Court that you can’t just trust they’ll do the right thing, she continued. “Now, so far, the courts have actually been pretty good. So, we’ll see.” 

Clarence Thomas – the nation’s second African American justice – has sat on the court for nearly 30 years after a nomination by President George H.W. Bush. 

Critics took to social media to blast Reid for her comment, calling it “disgusting” and racist,” according to The Hill. 

But, silence on the other end from Reid herself.
