DeSantis Slams ‘Little Elf’ Anthony Fauci: ‘I’m Just Sick Of Seeing Him’
On Wednesday, Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis called Dr. Anthony Fauci a “little elf” and said he was “sick of seeing him.”
“I’m just sick of seeing him,” DeSantis said of Fauci, who serves as Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and Chief Medical Advisor to President Biden.
“I know he says he’s gonna retire. Someone needs to grab that little elf and chuck him across the Potomac!” DeSantis added.
DeSantis’ comments come after Fauci announced on Monday that he would be stepping down from his position as the president’s top medical adviser and the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases this December.
“I will be leaving these positions in December of this year to pursue the next chapter of my career,” said Fauci.
“It has been the honor of a lifetime to have led the NIAID, an extraordinary institution, for so many years and through so many scientific and public health challenges,” he added. “I am very proud of our many accomplishments. I have worked with – and learned from – countless talented and dedicated people in my own laboratory, at NIAID, at NIH and beyond. To them I express my abiding respect and gratitude.”
Fauci’s announcement comes after nearly a year of polls showing that the majority of Americans thought Fauci should resign. According to a Hill-HarrisX poll from October 2021, 52 percent of registered voters felt Fauci should resign.
