Protester Throws Water Bottle at CNN Crew Who Gets Mocked After Falling Down
As rioters gathered again Wednesday night to do their part in fighting police brutality by violently attacking innocent people, looting stores, and other acts completely unrelated to police brutality, the rioters assaulted CNN crew members and chased them away.
“Man part of CNN crew for CNN reporter @miguelmarquez was hit in the head by a protester at the #BLM protest in Brooklyn Center, Minn. He falls to the ground from assault,” Andy Ngo, a journalist who covers domestic terrorism, wrote on Twitter. He later reported, “CNN reporter @miguelmarquez & his crew were violently chased away from the #BLM protest in Brooklyn Center, Minn.”
The riot broke out Wednesday night, marking the fourth consecutive night of rioting after the shooting of Daunte Wright by a police officer. Rioters gathered around the Brooklyn Center police headquarters, leading to an assembly that was deemed unlawful. According to USA Today, “One video showed one protester carrying the head of a fake pig on a pole near a fence outside the heavily guarded station as police monitored the crowd from the structure’s rooftop.”
Police were forced to use rubber bullets to attempt to disperse the crowd, as the rioters threw objects at the officers.
“That’ll add to the zip-tie bruises I got the other night,” a rioter who was hit by a bullet told USA Today, unintentionally illustrating the power of propaganda through his determination to riot.
The attack on CNN crew members comes less than a year after rioters protested police brutality by attacking CNN headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia, after the shooting of George Floyd in May 2020.
