City Dwellers Unable to get Vaccinated at Home Travel to Rural Towns and Red States
People in congested, Democrat-run cities are having a hard time getting the vaccine
Americans across the country are rushing to get the coronavirus vaccine, but those in congested, Democrat-run cities are having a hard time. The Washingtonian reports that even after three months since the vaccine rollout, “about 10 percent of DC’s population is fully inoculated against Covid-19” putting it “behind almost the entire country.”
Their solution is to search “often redder” parts of the country so as not to be forced to continue to wait. Entire Facebook groups have been dedicated to finding locations for city dwellers to get their shots. DC-based group “District Vaccine Hunters” consists of residents sharing information.
“Willing to drive to Danville, VA? Looks like they have more doses than they can use” posted one member. “I just made an appointment this Saturday for my husband at the Rite Aid in Marietta!” wrote another, referring to Marietta, Ohio.
Another 40-year-old DC resident who doesn’t want her name used for fear of backlash was able to make an appointment at a FEMA site in Cleveland. “For me, being in a group that won’t be eligible in DC for a while, and being able to drive to a place where I am eligible or where there’s an abundance – I look at it as I’m freeing up vaccine in DC for someone who needs it and who can’t do that” explained the anonymous resident.
Some people are even going so far as to be a self-described “vaccine hunter” such as one woman who believes she has helped roughly 30 people go so far as to get appointments for their vaccines. She gets the majority of her intel by monitoring Facebook groups and learning when places like CVS and Safeway release new batches of appointments.
