Border Patrol Union Leader Warns Biden Ending Title 42 Will Give ‘Control To The Cartels’
On Wednesday, a union leader representing U.S. Border Patrol agents warned that the Biden administration’s plan to end Title 42 next week will give the cartels full control of the border.
“That we just don’t have anybody in the field, that we just can’t patrol the border. When you look right now, we already start our shifts with 50% of our resources not even performing enforcement activities. They’re in administrative duties,” National Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd said during an appearance on Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom.”
“Once this explodes, we’re going to have nearly 100% of our people doing administrative duties rather than enforcement duties. That’s going to give complete control to the cartels. That’s a scary situation to be in,” he added.
Judd’s comments come as “234,088 migrants encountered at the Southern border in April, per a DHS court filing today. That’s the highest number in DHS history. 117,989 migrants were released into the U.S. in April. 113,248 were removed, including 96,908 expelled via Title 42,” according to Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin.

If the Biden administration successfully ends Title 42 on May 23, the number of migrants encountered at the southern border in a month is expected to surge to over 500,000, according to a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) document obtained by ABC News. The document warns that the end of Title 42 will result in as many as 18,000 migrants attempting to cross the southern border each day.
“The DHS Office of Immigration Statistics (OIS) produced projections for post-Title 42 Southwest Border encounters describing low, medium, high, or very high encounter scenarios,” the document says. “These scenarios underpin planning assumptions that generate requirements which in turn drive operational execution. Based on these projections the SBCC is currently planning for 6,000, 12,000 (high) and 18,000 (very high) encounters per day.”
