Biden v. Staircases: The President Trips Again

Over the weekend, President Biden faced one of his personal struggles and attempted to climb a staircase. The 80-year-old president stumbled but, against all odds, managed to make it to the top and conquer the staircase. 

Biden, who has historically often appeared to treat staircases as if they were slip and slides, can be seen in a video of the incident beginning his ascension slowly and carefully. However, after seemingly becoming overly confident, the president let go of the handrail. Seconds later, disaster struck as he stumbled and nearly fell down the staircase. 

Fortunately, the president was able to regain his balance and finish his trek. The stumble was just a mere speedbump on the road to success.  

Just weeks ago, Biden had a similar – although slightly worse – stumble during a battle with a staircase. 

However, the improving attempts show that Biden has clearly made progress in his ability to climb staircases. When the president entered office, there were incidents in which he fell multiple times during just one attempt. For example, in March 2021, Biden fell three times in a row as he attempted to climb the staircase to Air Force One. 

Biden’s most recent stumble comes a few weeks after White House physician Kevin O’Connor assessed that the president is “a healthy, vigorous 80-year-old male who is fit to successfully execute the duties of the Presidency, to include those as Chief Executive, Head of State and Commander in Chief.”
