Biden Says Russia Committed ‘Genocide’

On Tuesday, President Biden called the atrocities committed by Russia during its invasion of Ukraine a “genocide,” and blamed Russia for the record high inflation rates the United States is facing.

“Mr. President, have you seen enough evidence to declare genocide in Ukraine, sir?” a reporter asked.

“Yes, I called it genocide.  It has become clearer and clearer that Putin is just trying to wipe out the idea of even being — being able to be Ukrainian. And the amount — the evidence is mounting,” Biden responded. “It’s different than it was last week.  The — more evidence is coming out of the — literally, the horrible things that the Russians have done in Ukraine.  And we’re going to only learn more and more about the devastation.”

“And we’ll let the lawyers decide internationally whether or not it qualifies, but it sure seems that way to me,” he added.

The news comes the same the day the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics released inflation numbers for March 2022, revealing that inflation has reached 8.5% over the last year – the highest level in over 40 years.

“Increases in the indexes for gasoline, shelter, and food were the largest contributors to the seasonally adjusted all items increase,” the agency’s report said. “The gasoline index rose 18.3 percent in March and accounted for over half of the all items monthly increase; other energy component indexes also increased. The food index rose 1.0 percent and the food at home index rose 1.5 percent.”

“The all items index continued to accelerate, rising 8.5 percent for the 12 months ending March, the largest 12-month increase since the period ending December 1981,” it added. “The all items less food and energy index rose 6.5 percent, the largest 12-month change since the period ending August 1982. The energy index rose 32.0 percent over the last year, and the food index increased 8.8 percent, the largest 12-month increase since the period ending May 1981.”
