Biden Admin Signs Five-Year Lease To House Migrant Children As Border Crisis Worsens
Democrat President Joe Biden’s administration has reportedly signed a five-year lease for an abandoned school in Greensboro, North Carolina, to house unaccompanied migrant children from the southern border amid record levels of illegal immigration.
“The Biden admin has quietly leased a sprawling, upscale school campus in Greensboro, N.C. for the purpose of housing unaccompanied migrant children smuggled across the Southern border, despite claiming last year there were ‘no plans’ to do so. Feds hiring up to 800 staff,” Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin wrote on Twitter.

According to the report from Fox News, ‘Potentially thousands of migrant children will be detained at the American Hebrew Academy campus in Greensboro until they can be housed with either family members already living here in the U.S. or other sponsors.”
The news has led to criticism from House Republicans, who have pointed out that the move “directly contradicts” a testimony from HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra last year.
“There is no plan we have to shelter children in North Carolina,” Becerra said last May in response to Rep. Richard Hudson (R-NC) asking if there was truth to reports that the Biden administration was planning to house migrants in the state.
“The decision to now resettle UACs in Greensboro directly contradicts what you said previously and comes as a complete surprise to us and our constituencies,” House Republicans said in a letter to Becerra.
The news comes as illegal immigration last month reached the highest level ever recorded with nearly 240,000 migrants being encountered by border officials in May.
“There were an unprecedented 239,416 migrant encounters at the Southern border in May, CBP reports. This is the highest monthly total in DHS history, beating the record that was set the month before in April w/ 234,088,” Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin wrote on Twitter.
