Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) mocked President Biden for a gaffe the president made while speaking in Canada last week.
As he addressed the Canadian Parliament in Ottawa, Biden said he applauded “China” in an attempt to thank Canada for their commitment to accept more migrants from Latin America.
“So today, I applaud China for stepping up,” Biden said as the audience instantly burst out in laughter. “I applaud Canada. You can tell what I’m thinking.”
Cruz mocked Biden for the incident during an episode of his podcast “Verdict.”
“That kind of weakness means our enemies are laughing at us. But you know what’s even worse? Not just our enemies, our friends are laughing at us,” Cruz said before playing the video.
“So that’s addressing the Canadian Parliament. And listen, fine, so he had a slip of the tongue. Everyone does that. Biden does it a lot,” Cruz said. “But I just want to point out that’s the entire Parliament of Canada laughing at the President of the United States.”
“Now, Canadians are many things, but fundamentally, they’re polite. They are very polite,” Cruz continued. “Just how bad do you have to screw up to have a roomful of Canadians laughing at you?”
