On Wednesday, former CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield said that he believes American tax dollars were used to fund gain of function research at the virology lab in Wuhan, China, that resulted in the COVID-19 pandemic.
Redfield made his comments during a House Select Subcommittee hearing on the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Dr. Fauci was told in an email that NIAID had a monetary relationship with the Wuhan Institute through EcoHealth Alliance,” Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY) said to Redfield.
“He was told this January 27, 2020. Do you think that Dr. Fauci intentionally lied under oath to Senator Paul when he vehemently denied NIH’s funding of gain of function research?” she asked.
“I think there is no doubt that NIH was funding gain of function research,” the former CDC Director replied.
“Is it likely that American tax dollars funded the gain of function research that created this virus?” Malliotakis asked.
“I think it did. Not only from the NIH, but from the state department, USAID, and DOD,” Redfield said.
