The news puts illegal immigration levels on track to hit a new record high in fiscal year 2023, which began in October. The current record was set in fiscal year 2022, when border officials encountered 2,378,944 migrants attempting to illegally cross the southern border. Fiscal year 2022 broke the record set in fiscal year 2021 – President Biden’s first year in office – when border officials encountered 1,734,686 migrants attempting to illegally cross the southern border.
